Last Sunday I completed the last of my academic obligations to my University in pursuit of my Master’s degree in information systems; I passed the certification standards for scuba diving!
A few days later, the commencement ceremonies for graduate students was held, but I opted out of attendance as the regalia was unnecessarily expensive and I saw no need to walk across a stage again if it wasn’t going to involve a stirring rendition of the opening number to Guys and Dolls.
I guess all of this is to say that I don’t feel necessarily any smarter than before, and as such I will avoid the pretension of requiring people to address me as Master Said… That and I don’t want people thinking I own land.
A man, lost in his ways and seeking meaning, embarked on a journey of existential discovery. Upon a mountain, atop of which lived a great guru, the man arrived and resolved to find his answer. Once having reached the summit, the man posed his ultimate question of the meaning behind life, the universe and everything else. The guru, having been no stranger to questions of this nature, easily replied “the meaning behind life, the universe and everything else is merely knowledge of the fact that all that has ever existed and ever will is an elephant resting on the back of a great turtle.” Perplexed, the man found no solace in the great guru’s answer and so he posed “then what the hell is the turtle standing on?!?!” Calm and composed the great guru raised a thumb and forefinger to rest his chin and tilted an eyebrow with a pensive air. “Why my dear boy,” the great guru began “it’s turtles all the way down.”
